Description
All the kits require assembly and painting. Plastic model cement, acrylic or enamel paints are recommended however, polyurethane coatings can be used if applied in thin coats. The model bombs may be dropped but can be damaged on hard surfaces. They are very light and may also require a nose weight to prevent looking like an empty drop tank when released. A wad of silicone inside the nose has done well for us Vacuum formed plastic parts GBU-8 Electro-optical Guided Bomb

Rockwell International GBU-8 Electro-optical Guided Bomb

First used during the Vietnam War, the GBU-8 Electro-Optical Guided Bomb (EOGB), was a composite of a 2,000 pound bomb and a KMU-353 Television Guidance and Control Kit.

Rockwell International first developed the EOGB in 1967 by adapting a Mk 84 bomb with new electro-optical technology. In the cockpit, the pilot selected a target with the TV camera and the Weapon Systems Officer then locked the GBU-8's seeker to the target. The weapon was then deployed and would fly to the designated target. The aircraft did not have to remain in the area while the bomb traveled to the target.

The GBU-8 was just over 12 feet long and weighed 2,000 pounds. Its wingspan was over 3 feet and it was 16 1/2 inches in diameter.
